A train derailment on the Gloucester side of Grange Court Station which happened when the engine overran the sidings during engineering work. Mr Howells, the Stationmaster, was on the train and sustained a back injury. The taller of the two figures in the bottom right hand corner of the photo is Chris Ingram, the other figure being Pip Woodman whose parents owned the farm at Broken Cross. Chris's aunt, Mrs Irene Raine, was evacuated from Birmingham at the beginning of the Second World War and worked as a Booking Clerk at Grange Court Station. She lived with her family in a cottage in the middle of a field at the back of Blaisdon Halt. She helped Chris's mother to get the job as Crossing Keeper at Westbury Crossing. |
